As a follow up to our successful 2008 debates, we are now planning events for 2009. Some of the themes to be discussed will be as follows:
· Alignment to business needs;
· Managing with less resources; and
· Threats in a recession.
However, we would also be pleased to hear any ideas that you would like to discuss.
Please check the map below for dates in your region for 2009 and if you would like to attend please contact dj@lbcwisecounsel.com.
Attendance is free to all in-house lawyers, whatever their role or experience, but you will need to register your interest as places at each event are limited.
Each debate attracts up to two hours CPD and presents a great opportunity to consider current best practice in a number of key performance areas as well as a chance to network with local in-house lawyers in a relaxed and informal atmosphere. The events usually commence at 5.30pm and concluding at 8pm but joining instructions will be sent nearer the date together with venue confirmation.
In-house Lawyer Debates on Value 2008 - The Reports
Last year the regional events division of LBC Wise Counsel, LBConnect, launched the ambitious Lawyer Debates on Value series.
Debates were held in several regions around the country and the in-house teams attending the debates represented a wide cross section of sectors and industries including financial services, the public sector, the university sector, from manufacturing, retail, pharmaceuticals, utilities and IT. The size of team represented also varied considerably and ranged from one team with nearly one hundred fee earners to one with just two lawyers.
All debates were under Chatham House rules and after each round of meetings, we published a significant report which can now be downloaded as detailed below:
First report - The value of the in-house team (download here)
Second report – The value of the individual in-house lawyer looking at the qualities and competencies needed to succeed (downloand here)
Third report - The value of the relationship with law firms (download here)
The consolidated report can also be downloaded from here.
