Alasdair is a General Counsel with 30 years’ experience in some of the world’s most successful life sciences companies. He trained and qualified at Linklaters. A life sciences graduate (Edinburgh University) with an MBA (London Business School), he has a fascination with the life sciences / high tech, and the interface with commercialisation, governance and law. He is passionate about developing better health solutions through entrepreneurial and charitable endeavours.

Alasdair serves as General Counsel and Company Secretary to Syncona (a leading FTSE250 healthcare company focused on creating, building and scaling a portfolio of global leaders in life science), and as a Trustee to the UK Dementia Research Institute (where he chairs the Audit and Risk Committee).

Previously, he was General Counsel EMEA and APAC, Mundipharma, where he drove the successful transformational turnaround of the business. Before that, Alasdair was General Counsel EMEA, Thermo Fisher Scientific (the world’s largest life sciences tools and healthcare technologies company) where, during a 7-year period of very significant company expansion through multiple acquisitions, he grew and developed a 50-lawyer-strong EMEA legal team. Through strategic transformation and change management the team built an award-winning pan-regional legal services operation with technology-enabled process solutions, creating significant competitive business advantage.
