Iain MacDonald is Senior Commercial Counsel in charge of commercial legal affairs for GE Renewable Energy in UK, Ireland and Northern Europe.

In this role, Iain advises all levels of Management on commercial contracts (working individually as also in cross-functional teams including engineering, operations, insurance and procurement functions) and ancillary legal matters.

Iain joined Alstom in May 2003 when he was primarily involved in preparing the UK Division of T&D for sale to AREVA, with whom he worked before being headhunted back to ALSTOM in August 2010 as General Counsel.  He was GC for ALSTOM UK until 2015 when the major divisions of ALSTOM were acquired by GE.

Prior to joining Alstom, he was General Counsel and Company Secretary at two FTSE-listed companies in London and, prior to that, he spent 5 years as Legal Counsel at the clothing company, Burberry.  Before working in-house, Iain worked as a solicitor in private practice in Scotland for five years.

Iain is a graduate of Aberdeen (LL.B and Dip.LP; 1988) and Kingston (MBA; 1999) Universities as also a dual-qualified (English and Scots Law) UK solicitor.
