Lauren has been the General Counsel and Monitoring Officer for the Royal Borough of Kingston Upon Thames since 2019. A member of the senior leadership team, she provides strategic legal advice to senior officers and the political leadership whilst also leading a number of key corporate services.
Prior to this appointment she worked for Kent County Council for a number of years, starting her career as a Child Protection lawyer. Her work in this area involved asylum, complex child exploitation cases and devising innovative outsourcing strategies.
Lauren is also an experienced charity trustee, focusing on good governance.
Her role as a leader, she believes, is best demonstrated with kindness and care; to empower those that we lead to have confidence in their abilities, to encourage excellence, and to provide an example for others to follow.
Outside of work she travels widely with a target number of countries to reach before her next significant birthday.
